It was a hard vote to make. I didn't feel like I had that much information about either of your games to make as informed of a decision as I would have liked.
I'll explain my reasoning as best as I can, because you guys deserve it after putting in all the effort into this game that you did. I read through the entire FTC before I cast this vote. You two put in a lot of time into this game, so I figured you deserve that I put thought into my vote.
Colleen, You played a solid game by all accounts. You made good alliances, and the fact that you survived the F4 vote shows your strategic prowess. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to you on the first day. You may be the only person who has called me a good conversationalist, but our talk just flowed. That doesn't normally happen for me, and I really enjoyed that first day, in part because of how much fun that conversation was.
The reason why I'm not voting for you is because I feel that you didn't give yourself backup plans if your original plans hadn't worked out. It was a good solid plan that you had, you ran into a major hiccup at F4 that you managed to overcome. Overall though, I feel like if everything got blown to smithereens, as tends to happen from time to time in Survivor, Ryan would have been more likely to recover.
Ryan, I didn't talk to you much during the game, and I went into FTC thinking I was going to vote for Colleen. Your opening statement didn't do you a favor, because you said that all your moves were to get you to the F2. Your moves should be to get you to win, and sometimes that means lowering your chances of making it to the finals.
That being said, you did a great FTC performance. You showed a solid understanding of Survivor in general, and this game in specific. I think keeping Colleen in at the F4 may have been a mistake, or done for the wrong reason. If you had said, "If Ellen had made the finals, she would have won, and I thought I could beat Colleen in the final vote so I took somebody who was more likely to beat Ellen in the final immunity challenge", that would have been a very strong argument. But, since you thought Colleen wasn't going to take you, you probably should have risked voting her out, risking going home. You thought you had to win the final challenge either way, might as well someone who is easier to beat in both the immunity challenge and the finals.
That was a bit of a ramble.
In any case, I don't think I'm in a position to tell either of you how to play the game. Survivor is primarily a social game, and you two are very good at socializing.
It was a close decision for me, with Ryan just barely edging out Colleen. Both of you would be deserving winners, and you two played good games. Congratulations to both of you on making it this far.
P.S. Ryan, this is the first vote I've ever cast for a winner.
