Hello ladies and gentlemen, congrats on making it to the final 2, because that is obviously some accomplishment. The two of you had to have done something right, even if it was just getting underneath Ellen's wing and riding it out from there, but hey - how can we call that bad gameplay when it got you all there, and the rest of us here? Do I vote for the better lap dog of Ellen, or the one who finally smartened up to take out the HBIC? (Feel free to answer this question, though I'm just being sardonic.)
COLLEEN
You are someone I thoroughly enjoyed in this game. I found you real and not one to bullshit around with. You were someone I felt I could talk to, ask for honest opinions, and receive feedback that would actually be worthwhile. I feel you were actually someone who kept your head in the game throughout the duration of our time out here. You stayed focused and you had your eye on the prize, while many others of us may have gotten caught up in the "fun and games" of the chat, or personal relationships. I feel that you emitted an equal amount of personality and strategy into the chats, while for most people: it was mostly personality in this game, which left little time for strategy talk when it could count. There was a lot of down time, where I feel many people let their guards down, but you didn't seem to let your guard down and I both respect you and commend you for that. Brava!
I'm going to be straight up honest with you. I wanted to be sitting with you at the end of the game. I thought even though we were already aligned, that you would have been someone easy to beat. I didn't see much of you after we swapped, but once we were reunited, you and Ellen were definitely the two that stood out for me. I'm really proud with how you've handled yourself in this game. We formed our final 3 alliance thing (did we ever actually commit, or was it more of an unsaid thing?), and I was down with it. At the final 3 I wanted to take you, because I felt Ellen was a threat, and now I'm sitting here thinking: Wow, Colleen turned up the temperature in this game. She kicked ass and she DEFINITELY impressed me. From wanting to stick to your loyalties (honorable) to staying calm when I left (manipulative), all the way to taking out this season's top player (strategic): I think that is enough to reward you with the win, just don't let me down!
In the game, I feel like you weren't afraid to stick to your guns and you were a woman who knew what you wanted and you didn't take no for an answer from anyone. I'm not sure everyone else saw this in you and I think most people probably underestimated you, but here's your chance to express why you feel you were a stronger player than Ryan in that sense. The week Ryan wanted to take out Dominic to save AJ, you and Ellen strongly opposed this from the beginning (I actually believe you were more adamant than Ellen was about not going through with it.) Why were you so opposed to taking Dominic out earlier when he was such a big threat? Or at least we all thought so anyway lol. Furthermore, (why) do you feel Ryan depended on Ellen more than you? What did you do to branch out from Ellen, and where does your game differ from Ryan's? I feel like you both kind of accepted your position in this game, but I do feel like you got a bit of a reality check when I was blindsided. It seemed to be your wake-up call and you learned from that, which shows improvement. Do you feel Ryan showed improvement? For example, the very next week, Ellen and Ryan had the opportunity to knock you out... do you think it was a mistake that they did not? Carly obviously didn't have her wake-up call with my blindside, so personally I feel that you were more of a threat, as you now understood the dynamics of the game, and you became the star of the show. Is this maybe there you shined and Ryan faltered?
RYAN
You are also someone I thoroughly enjoyed playing the game with. We wound up together on Ellis and then after the tribe swap, we continued to work together and actually wound up bonding, where "we" found AJ. Or, at least I thought it was "we." Little did I know, this was something much bigger than I realized. Sometimes you would show me something AJ had said, or something about AJ "hinting" that she would vote with us if we lost, etc., etc. I often wondered why AJ would feel so comfortable telling you these things, so much so that I even had you two pegged as Secret Partners, but ya know, now it makes a whole lot of sense. I was just giving you way too much credit for actually working in this game. I thought it was a game-related thing, hence why I thought you must have been partners, but I guess I was wrong about you. I gave you too much in-game credit and not enough pre-game credit. The only reason we felt so comfortable over there was because of your personal relations with AJ, wasn't it? I mean, sure you can say we bonded with her... but I really wonder how much that did to push AJ to "our side." I suppose that's more of a question to ask AJ, so we'll see.
Anyway, further into the game I thought you were going to be a strong player, someone who made big moves or came across as a big character. I mean, I guess you tried. You tried to save AJ, you tried to take out Dominic earlier than he left, you tried to drag Carly along.... but in the end, I feel like you just wound up "accepting" your position in the game and not striving for more. You let AJ go not giving yourself a power position, you let Dominic stick around caving to Colleen and Ellen's wishes, you let Carly go at F4 (granted, Colleen smartened up and took you to the end, lucky). I guess my final question to you Ryan, is do you regret any of these moves? Particularly, taking Carly out at F4, letting Colleen in the F3? Personally, I feel that was the one mistake that cost you and Ellen.
You said in your Opening: "I do not believe that I told any lies that were unnecessary, and every vote I casted was just to get me to this point."
You don't consider voting me out and lying about it to be unnecessary? I never once considered anything other than voting Carly, and you told everyone else we voted out that they were going in advance, but me to that point, that they were going home? Why was it so "necessary" to blindside me. Even if I was told I was going home, I wouldn't have the resources, time, or care to try and rally up Carly and Colleen. It never would have happened. I still consider this lie unnecessary and only sent a player to the Jury pissed off. Furthermore, failing to acknowledge my departure only made it worse. Anyway, the second part of this quote, about every vote you casted was just to get you to the F2? Uhh, did you actually vote off Carly, EXPECTING Colleen to take you to the end? I don't think even Colleen expected to take you to the end (Correct me if I'm wrong, Colleen). But you voting out Carly was definitely not to "get you to this point," as I'm pretty sure you probably thought you were fucked the moment Colleen won the final immunity challenge. Luckily for you, Colleen smartened up and took you. How much do you believe Colleen's decision was of your influence? Colleen can clarify when she gets the chance to as well.
"In the end, I feel that Ryan's story is much different from Colleen's, because I feel that Colleen had to actively work to advance her position in the game, while Ryan took a much more laid-back and calm approach, just drifting."
To both of you, do you think that the above statement is an accurate assumption of your strategies and if so, which do you think that is more respectable and more deserving of the title: Soul Survivor? (How) would you alter the above statement to make it more plausible?
Good luck.
