The group seems nice at this point, of course that's bound to change, and fast. I'd like to think I'm a pretty good judge of character, but having just met these people you never really know who's genuine and who's really a wolf in sheep's clothing.
From my first impressions, Leah seems savvy, she's got a great sense of humor, which I love, and she has a good head on her shoulders. I'm definitely looking at her as an option when it comes to finding someone I'm compatible with in the long term.
Chase, on the other hand, he's definitely friendly, but intuitively speaking, something tells me to watch my back there. I'm keeping him close but I just don't know if I can trust him yet.
Of the others that I've chatted with, albeit briefly of course, Kendell and Liam seem really sweet, I like them both a lot and Tina, well Tina is quiet. I can't place whether it's apathy or something else. I've noticed she comes and goes with Chase a lot. It could just be coincidence but I'm going to keep an eye on them for the time being.

I'm not usually one for forging allegiances based on gender but as far as this group goes, the men seem far more active and capable than the women.
Dependability is huge in a situation like this and so far Ben, Jonah, Liam and Yuri have really impressed me.
I'm not afraid to get down and dirty with the boys if that's what I have to do and no, I don't think that makes me a bad feminist or a coattail rider either. Quite the contrary in fact. I'm not afraid to go deep with strong individuals, because I'm a strong individual; a strong woman.

I'm 45-years-old. It's true. And I get the sense that some of these people might not fully believe me when I say that, but... I really can't help it that I've aged so gracefully.
Sunscreen folks, it's a miracle worker.
I guess it's flattering, really it is, but as far as I'm concerned I have no real reason to lie about something like that.
And even -if- I did, knowing that I still get carded when I go to bars, I would have probably gone with something a little more realistic than that... like say 21 or something...
Okay, only kidding about that part.
But seriously, I am 45.

I think that Colleen and I have a lot in common. We're both "older women" and because of that we've maybe got more life experience under our belts than say some of the younger girls.
She's just easy to talk to, which is a godsend. We both have our shit together. I think she's someone that I could definitely learn to call not just an ally, but also a friend, and in a crisis situation like this, well that's like striking gold.

Ryan is proof that you can't always judge a book by it's cover.
The girl is drop dead gorgeous and make no mistake, she definitely knows it. She has the body of a centerfold and the face of a cover girl. Her eyes and smile especially, they absolutely light up a room.
And so naturally she's a flirt, I mean it's no shock to anyone. As they say, if you've got it, flaunt it.
Still, I can't lie and claim that my expectations for the girl were exactly high up there when it came to sizing up just who might be helpful in a situation like a zombie apocalypse.
But I've been pleasantly surprised. In talking to Ryan one-on-one and in getting to know her apart from the group, I've been amazed by just how down to earth and intelligent of a young woman she is.
I see a lot of tenacity there, she's feisty and she has a lot of spunk. I like her. In my book she's a keeper.

Very early this morning, after almost everyone else had drifted off to sleep, Yuri and I were whispering about our current situation. He brought up an excellent theory about Dominic and Liam which I hadn't thought of yet.
Unless they're lying, which is a definite possibility, both of them are construction workers. This begs the question, what if they've known each other all along?
You know, since he mentioned it to me I've been watching Dom and Liam a little bit more closely and they do seem awfully friendly for two people who just met.
It could be nothing, but if they've already got an allegiance to one another, that's dangerous for someone like me who hasn't made any promises yet.

Earlier, Chase, Ryan, Yuri and I were comparing notes and it quickly became obvious to us that Jonah hasn't been at all consistent in what he's telling people.
And you know, given the task at hand, that's pretty damn shady.
Chase was, well Chase, and he got a little obnoxious about it. He tried to instigate some fireworks there by encouraging Yuri to confront Jonah about all of the apparent half truths that he's been spreading.
Luckily, nothing has come of it yet, because Yuri is pretty level headed and even though Chase wants drama, he doesn't want to be at the forefront of it.
The Machiavellian part of me hopes that this will continue to fester just a little bit more because then things will really get explosive.
And that may sound selfish of me, but as they say, what's good for the goose, isn't always good for the gander; in the long run, the more dissension amongst everyone else, the better off I'll be. Let everyone else paint a bulls-eye on their back.
